Outdoor Elementary Homeschool Program
(Formerly Enriched Kids)
Operating in Santa Barbara & Los Feliz/Glendale
About Our Program
We are a daytime outdoor enrichment program for TK-4th graders providing homeschooling families unique hands-on nature activities, art projects, nature crafts, scientific discovery, and a great deal of interest-led exploration. Our program is anchored in child-led, "place-based" nature learning, which provides unlimited opportunities for cross-curricular studies engaging children in hands-on projects, experiments and deep dives into spontaneous investigations - all while developing confidence and a love for the natural world around them!
Students may attend up to 2x/week in our fun and intimate groups (max 14 with 7:1 student/staff ratios). Our Directors and Facilitators have completed comprehensive trainings in Elementary Forest Schooling, Environmental Education, Naturalist Studies, Early Childhood Development, Emotional Development, Elementary Education, Elementary Montessori, Wilderness First Aid, and Leadership. We hope you can join us this year!
Exploration Stations
Welcome Explorers! The crux of our learning is in our Exploration Stations where children choose their own adventures during our daily activity sessions. We facilitate new content each week covering the following areas over the school year:
Nature Studies
Explore the five senses, discover and compare different habitats and ecosystems, and engage with the plants and animals who live there.
Culture Around the World
Experience different periods in history through arts and crafts, using materials and techniques that children and families enjoyed in their daily lives.
Waldorf & Process Art
Learn creative ways to immerse yourself in artistic expression using unique processes as well as with watercolors, chalks, dry paints, crayons, and pencils.
Wilderness Skills
Develop basic survival skills to be a nature explorer learning how to use tools, knots, how to build shelter, and identify various nature dangers.
Local History
Learn about the practices and try making crafts from the Chumash and other Native American cultures from around the Western United States.
Music
Sing songs, listen to music and learn to recognize different elements of music, particularly the stories told through song, and the art they inspire.
Ecology
Enjoy nature-based science activities and games. Take advantage of these natural opportunities as we deep dive into our local wilderness.
Wildcrafting
Use nature as a foundation for arts & crafts creations. Discover how to immerse yourself in the wild to make creative and useful expressions.
Independent Study
Interested in continuing a project from home? Or pursuing a topic of your own? We work with you to facilitate other topics of interests.
